Today, we will walk you through Mist Nation and their High Five feudal society.
Mist Nation is made up of five clans: Demon, Dragon, Spider, Lucky Cat, and Nine Tails. Each clan has their own style of traditional magical martial arts techniques, traditions, and ethos.
The clans were once one clan, until the Prisms of Faith landed in their sacred cemetery, creating a rift in the spirit realm and releasing a mist of malevolent spirits that shrouded the mountainous regions and split the clans among five different peaks. The mist makes it near impossible to enter or leave Mist Nation, being made up of the souls of all of the dead. Anyone who enters the mist has their anxieties, fears, worst nightmares reflected back to them. Only a person that has a calm mind can make it through. Almost all people who enter the mist are never heard from again.
There is a special spirit magic that the members of Mist Nation use called Ki. Each clan has their own style of Ki, that takes years of study and practice to master. Mist Nation weapons are made of Spirit Steel, which channels Ki energy.
Every year, the clans hold a martial arts tournament called The Ultimate League. In this tournament they have the chance to exhibit their techniques, power, and abilities. Through The Ultimate League, Mist Nation selects its leader, with the winner taking over the role of Emperor for the clans.
The current Emperor is Han, who has been using the mist to help him win year after year. He is also supported by a demon, the former overthrown Emperor of Mist Nation, who counsels Han to rule with an iron fist. Han takes warriors from the five clans to become part of his Mystbound army and keep the people in line. The ultimate goal of Han and the demon Emperor is to use the mist to take over the other factions of the world.
In his drive to conquer the world, Han has made enemies. The one enemy that seems to be leading the charge against Han is Kira, who saw Han and his Mystbound murder her parents in their home as she hid for her life. Along the way she meets Sura, a former Dragon Clan member who now lives a life of purity and balance after a past filled with trauma and regret. Neko also joins up Kira’s crusade for revenge. He’s a former member of Stronghold looking to find respect for his abilities in the Lucky Cat Clan.
Shade is a member of Dragon Clan. His clan is made up of monks who live in high altitude temples. Shade leaves his sanctuary when he begins to have disturbing visions in his meditations and decides to go out to seek answers.
Jubei is on a quest to free his grandfather’s soul by finding the soul lantern. The only clue he has is to find a girl named Kira.
Yumi has been raised in the Spider Clan and learned to heal others. Slowly though, she is coming to the realization that her memories may be fabricated.
Then, there is Ghost, out to avenge her husband’s murder she sneaks into Han’s palace and faces off against the Mystbound. As she kills one of them, she hears the name Aimi called and is startled since only her husband called her that name.
